Contempt of court case against Chahal adjourned to Oct 31
Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today adjourned till October 31 the further hearing on the contempt of court plea against Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, ex media advisor to former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
The plea was heard by the full bench comprising Chief Justice Tirath Singh Thakur and Justices Jasbir Singh and Surya Kant.
Chahal was accused of attempting to interfere in the judicial process by ensuring that the file of the Punjab sports department pertaining to selection of some deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) under the sports quota in the Punjab Police did not reach the High Court.
It had happened at a time when the court seized the petition against the sports quota selection of DSPs which included among others Chahal's son too.
The adjournment came after Anupam Gupta the amicus curie in the matter submitted that he heard about the full bench hearing only sometime back and as such was not properly prepared for the hearing.
