Anil Kumble out, India wins toss elects to bat

Mohali, Oct 17 (UNI) The suspense was finally over as Anil Kumble decided to opt out of the second Test on his 38th birthday and Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the the toss and elected to bat against Australia here this morning.

Belying all speculations that India may go for another seamer, the home side opted for leg spinner Amit Mishra to replace Anil Kumble.

Kumble, suffering from a shoulder injury, ruled himself out just before the toss to give Amit Mishra a chance to make his debut.

An injury to Stuart Clark, also forced the visitors to make a change in their their XI as well. Victorian fast bowler Peter Siddle will make his debut for Australia.

Teams: India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt and wk), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Amit Mishra, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin (wk), Cameron White, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle.
