AICC fact-finding team on Assam submits report to Sonia
New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The three-member AICC team, which toured Assam on October 11-12 to take stock of the situation there in the wake of the communal violence, today blamed the BJP, AGP and the AASU for blowing up minor incidents.
The team today submitted its report to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Besides Union Minister of State for Home and AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed, the committee had Mr Mukut Mithi, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and Member of Rajya Sabha, and Mr A H Khan, a member of Lok Sabha.
AICC Media Department Chairman Veerappa Moily also accompanied the three members of the team to present the report to Ms Gandhi at her official 10 Janpath residence.
Mr Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons that the situation in the affected districts of Darang and Udalgiri was returning to normal.
He said Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had been asked to take steps to remove fear in the minds of the people and facilitate them to return to their home towns from the camps.
