Vigilance case against former PWD Minister M K Muneer
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (UNI) The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau(VACB)today registered a case against former Kerala PWD Minister M K Muneer for his alleged role in awarding contract for road work without inviting tenders.
VACB North Zone Dy SP P Unnikrishnan, who conducted an investigation, told UNI that certain anomalies had been found in awarding a Rs 28-crore work for construction of five roads under the Manjeri Road Division in Malappuram district without proper tenders.
The other charges against Dr Muneer include that he had not sought concurrence from the Finance Department prior to awarding the contract, granted ten per cent more than the total estimate of the work violating the rules of the Public Works Department.
The case was registered at the Vigilance Court in Thrissur as Malappuram district comes under its jurisdiction.
