SR to divert train route due to doubling work on Oct 23
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 15: The Southern Railway (SR) has diverted some trains due to doubling work in the Trippunithura- Mulanthuruthi section and Chengannur-Mavelikkara section on October 23.
According to a press release here, some trains would run via Ernakulam-Alappuzha-Kayamkulm route instead of Ernakulam-Kottyam- Kayamkulam route.
Due to the diversion of traffic, the New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Express, Hyderabad-Thiruvananthapuram Sabari Express and Jammu Tawi-Kanniyakumari Himsagar Express would not touch Piravam Road, Kottayam, Chenganassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur and Mavelikkara.
The Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala Expres, Kanniyakumari-Bangalore Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Parasuram Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Hyderabad Sabari Express, Kochuveli-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Garib Rath Express and Kanniyakumari-Mumbai CST Express would also not touch these stations.
However, for the convenience of the passengers, stoppages would be provided for all the diverted trains, expcept the Kochuveli-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Garib Rath Express, at Harippad, Ambalappuzha, Alappuzha and Cherthala.
The Ernakulam-Kayamkulam-Ernakulam Passenger was also cancelled, the release added.
Meanwhile, the SR would operate special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers on October 19 and 20. The Trivandrum-Bangalore Special would leave Thiruvananthapuram Central at 1515 hrs on October 19 and arrive at Bangalore at 0740 hours, the next day.
