Special court adjourns hearing on Gawli bail plea till Nov 11
Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Special MCOCA court today adjourned till November 11, the hearing on the bail application filed by gangster- turned-politician Arun Gawli for his alleged involvement in Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar murder case.
Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court fixed November 11 as the date for hearing of the petition after prosecution failed to file its reply today.
In this case, crime branch sleuths have arrested 20 accused including Prakash Sawla, Dinesh Narkar, Srikrishna Gurav alias Babu, Vijay Kumar Giri, Narendra Giri, Anil Giri, Ashok Jaiswal, Sahebrao Bhintude, Sadashiv Surve, Surendra Panchal and Sandeep Dongan, besides Gawli.
They were booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 3 (1)(ii), 3(2), 3(4) and 4 of the stringent MCOCA and 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
Gawli has stated in his petition that MCOCA could not be slapped on him as three other cases were still pending against him.
Of which, two are civil matters and another pertains to an assault on a journalist.
