Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss today urged leaders of all political parties in Tamil Nadu not to politicise the Sri Lankan Tamils issue and rally behind Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in his efforts to save the Tamils.

In a statement here, he said politics should take a back seat in our efforts to protect the suffering Tamils in the island and all the political parties should be united in dealing with the sensitive issue.

Dr Ramadoss said the State Government and the Chief Minister should not rest after sending to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the resolutions adopted at the all party meeting, held here on October 14.

The DMK Government should prevail upon the Prime Minister to directly talk to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and depute a delegation from India to Sri Lanka and exert pressure on the country to immediately stop the military attacks, he said.

The delegation should also ensure supply of medicine and other relief materials to the Tamils in Lanka and ask the Lankan Government to resume peace talks with the Tamils, he added.

''All of us here should realise that Tamils here and Sri Lankan Tamils were stongly related and come forward to protect them, sinking political differences'', he said.

Dr Ramadoss also exorted the people to demand the sacking of Lankan Army Chief Sarath Fonseka, for his remarks that Tamils were second class citizens in the island nation. ''Our voice should reach Delhi'', he said, adding Mr Karunanidhi should take a lead in this.
