No sacking in AI, will talk to other airlines: Patel
Hyderabad, Oct 16 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today categorically ruled out any retrenchment in Air India, and said he would talk to other airlines to see that large-scale job cuts did not happen as it did in Jet Airways.
''No, There will be no retrenchment in Air India,'' Mr Patel told reporters at the on-going civilian airshow at Begumpet Airport here.
He was replying to a question as to whether there will also be lay-off in Air India after Jet Airways yesterday decided to sack 1,900 employees.
Mr Patel said he was sympathetic to the sacked Jet employees, but added that it was a labour issue which would have to be dealt with by other departments.
''Par mein baat karne ki koshish karoonga (I will try to talk Jet Airways),'' that they try to accomodate as many people as possible, he said.
He said he would also talk to other airlines to see that such large-scale job cuts did not happen.
