Mohali,Oct 16 (UNI) Australia suffered a serious blow ahead of the second Test against India starting here tomorrow as their strike bowler Stuart Clark was ruled out for the match due to elbow injury.
Peter Siddle will make his debut for Australia as he was named as Clarke's replacement.
Making this announcement at the press conference this afternoon, Team Australia's media officer Phillip Pope said Clark has not fully recovered from the injury and it has been decided not to play him in the match starting tomorrow.
Clark did not bowl at yesterday's training session and after another check up, it was found that his injury still persists and the visitors opted for Peter Siddle rather than taking the risk of playing the unfit Stuart Clark.
The absence of Clark will affect the Australian attack on the Mohali track, which has been helpful to pace bowlers.
It remains to be seen how Peter Siddle, the inexperienced Victoria fast bowler, makes use of the unexpected chance he has got on a pace friendly track.
The inflamed right elbow joint troubled Clark during the first Test in Bangalore, where he regularly under-armed the ball in from the boundary and was restricted to 17 overs in the first innings.
Although he did bowl during the second innings, the problem was still niggling Clark and Australia are keen to give him time to recover.
