Govt doctors observe two-hour strike, OPD services crippled

Dehra Dun, Oct 16 (UNI) Government doctors under the banner of the Doctors Association today staged a two-hour strike, crippling out-patient department (OPD) services, as the state government refused to meet their demands.

The doctors observed a two-hour strike from 0800 hrs to 1000 hrs this morning causing inconvenience to the general public to protest the state government's refusal to consider their list of demands, which also includes a pay revision.

Talking to UNI, Association President Dr S L Upreti said the doctors observed a two-hour strike due to ''the state government's refusal to meet their 12 listed demands''.

''Doctors of government hospitals here, have been facing a lot of hardship for the past many years. The failure of the government to meet our demands after so many consultations forced us to resort to a two-hour agitation today,'' he said.

He said the doctors would further boycott emergency services in hospitals and national programmes of the state if their demands were not fulfilled.
