API held for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

Pune, Oct 16 (UNI) Assistant Police Inspector Bhujang Dattatray Kadam was today arrested by the officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a scrap dealer near Alandi temple.

Deputy Superintendent Vijay Dhopavkar, attached to the Ahmednagar Anti Corruption Bureau, told UNI over phone that one Rashid Shaikh, who owns a scrap business near Chakan area of the city, had made a written complaint to ACB Mumbai in September against API Kadam, in-charge of Devache Alandi Police Station.

Mr Shaikh, in the complaint, stated that his tempo loaded with scrap was seized by Kadam for lack of documents and demanded Rs 50,000 bribe for its release. The ACB Mumbai then directed Ahmednagar ACB to look into the matter, Mr Dhopavkar said.

Police laid a trap near Alandi Temple, where deal was supposed to done, and caught Kadam red-handed while accepting the bribe, he added.
