New Delhi, Oct.16 : The fashion fiesta has finally hit national capital New Delhi with a big bang. Approximately eight designers unveiled their collections on the first day of the 'Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.

Ace designers Ritu Kumar and Ranna Gill showcased an array of designs that left style aficionados awestruck.

Ranna Gill's collection was replete with vivid and bright colours reflecting the choice of today's youth. The collection titled 'Nirvana' had a collection of day dresses, beach wears, and evening wears.

"As a designer I love feminine clothes. I love sexy clothes. I love colour. You saw my prints on the runway and I was in a very 'Nirvanic' while designing the collection. It's happy, it's summer, it's colour, it's sexy and it's for a modern woman," said Gill.

Bollywood beauty Riya Sen became the show stealer as she gracefully sashayed down the ramp wearing a heavily embellished mini skirt.

"I have never really modeled for her before but I have known and seen her clothes to be very young , very- very trendy, very fresh, very -very sexy. So you know when I got this offer instantly thinking to myself I was like wow!I must do it and I must be there," said Sen.

Ritu Kumar, India's foremost designer, showcased an array of intricately designed attires.

The collection combined colours and embroideries from 'Maasai' tribes of East Africa with the traditional Bengali sari weaves- India's tribal ethnicity with contemporary chic and dazzled the fashion glitterati.

Titled as 'Label' the designs were crafted by Amrish Kumar, Ritu Kumar's son.

The floral prints and geometric patterns in varied hues dominated the collection and floored the fashion buffs.

"The uniqueness of the design lies in the use of the indigenous style of ours, like our textiles. We have used it and made an easy everyday young people wear. It has colours and makes a fashion statement and has and an added lifestyle. It is meant for young Indian and young people internationally as well," said Ritu Kumar.

Approximately 80 designers are showcasing their collection in this season of 'Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week', one of the major business to business fashion fete.
