Three of a family charred to death in fire
Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) Three people were charred to death and two others sustained burns in a family, when a fire broke out at Sevalpatti village in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu in the wee hours of today.
Reports received at the police headquarters here said the fire broke out due to friction when one Murugan (45), working as an Assistant Librarian in the district library, was manufacturing wicks using chemicals for crackers.
Murugan was mixing the chemicals for making wicks at his residence when the tragedy occurred.
While Murugan was charred to death on the spot, his wife Malliga and daughter Sindhu (15), studying in ninth standard, succumbed to burns this morning at the Sivakasi Government Hospital.
Murugan's other daughter Gomathi and son Manikandan were being treated at the hospital.
