Ahmedabad, Oct 15 (UNI) Gandhinagar-based Rashtriya Kisan Dal (RKD) today filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the state government's decision of alloting agriculture land to set up Tata Motors Nano Car Project in Sanand taluka of Ahmedabad District.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice R K Radhakrishnan and Justice Aquil Qureshi asked the petitioner to get the PIL translated from Gujarati to English and submit the same within three days time.

In the PIL, the complainant contended that the Anand Agriculture University land, which was meant for agricultural purpose was alloted to the prestigious Nano project by the government. The PIL called it a wrong decision and said the farmers, who are the original landowners of the agriculture land, have not been given adequate compensation by the state government while alloting the land for industrial use and hence demanded adequate compensation.

Though Tata's received a red carpet welcome in Gujarat for its Nano car project, some small land dispute that has cropped up can hamper the progress of the project.

The Land allocated to Tatas for Nano project at Chharodi village near here has turned out to be a problem area with some farmers raising issues over the land take over by the government from the Anand Agricultural University.

However, Gujarat Cabinet today met at Gandhinagar and fixed the price of the land allocated to the prestigious Nano Car project at the rate of Rs 900 squre feet.
