Raja launches WiMax embedded laptop
New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Communications Minister A Raja today launched WiMax embedded laptop computers to extend computing power and connectivity to small towns and in remote areas of the country.
Inaugurating global WiMax exposition-cum-conference here, he said the laptops with Intel chips are expected to stimulate growth of wireless broadband in the country.
Quoting studies by industry chambers- Assocham and CII-, the Minister said broadband access is expected to generate about two million direct employment and about 50 million indirect employment between 2010 to 2020, adding the consequent rise in productivity would be worth more than 70 billion dollars.
WiMAX Forum, which organised the conference, said they are planning a WiMAX Applications Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
