Pay anomalies, SRES threatens to launch nationwide strike
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 15 (UNI) The Southern Railway Employees Sangh (SRES) has threatened to launch a nationwide strike if the railway administration did not fix a reasonable pay hike for technical staff of the Indian Railways.
The Union Government should take care of nearly 90,000 technical staff, who were totally neglected by the Sixth Pay Commission, SRES President Raghavaiah told newspersons here yesterday.
Thanking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for announcing various concessions and promotions to the railwaymen based on the recommendations of the pay commission, Mr Raghavaiah, who is also the General Secretary of National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) said as the technical staff were backbone of the railway network, the government should sympathically consider and sanction all concessions and promotion opportunities for them.
