Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) The weather office today announced that North East monsoon had set over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
After the South West monsoon withdrew entirely from Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the North East monsoon set in today, the weather office said in a bulletin here.
It said a trough has formed in the South West bay of Tamil Nadu coast, across Gulf of Mannar and under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Isolated and heavy rains are also likely in parts of the state and the neighbouring Union Territory, the bulletin said.
The city and its suburbs would be generally cloudy and would have one or two spells of showers, it said.
