MUDA to allot 8,000 sites and spends Rs 218 cr on roads

Mysuru, Oct. 15: Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has chalked out plans to develop RT Nagar and Gopala Gowda Nagar as model layouts, said Superintending Engineering Mahesh. The authority has also decided to allot 8,000 sites as part of the project in the next four months, it is learnt.

MLC Siddaraju was quoted as saying 3,000 sites would be allotted in the newly-created Rabindranath Tagore Nagar on the south-western fringe of the city while the remaining 5,000 sites would be allotted in the new layout coming up on the south-eastern side of the city.

MUDA is reported to be soon taking up work on a Rs. 218 crore project to widen the existing 41 km two-lane Outer Ring Road to six lanes. It may be recalled, MUDA had eariler developed the two-lane Outer Ring Road diverting heavy vehicular traffic heading towards Ooty, Kerala, Madikeri and Hassan.

The authority has decided to widen the road under JNNURM, for which tenders have been invited. The work is expected to be completed within one year.

The Police Housing Society has given to MUDA eight acres to facilitate early completion of the Ring Road work passing behind Chamundi Hills. It has also acquired land to complete the 9 km Ring Road connecting Bannur and Nilgiris Roads.
