Lalu lays foundation of foot over-bridge at Dwarka

Dwarka, Gujarat, Oct 15 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav laid the foundation stone of a foot over-bridge at Dwarka Railway station here this evening.

Mr Yadav said railways have extended Manmad-Madurai train route to Okha-Rameshwar for the benefit of the pilgrims.

He assured that Dwarka Railway station will make a model station at the cost of Rs two crore as Indian railway line is the life line for passengers.

Over 14 lakh employees are working in the railways. After he assumed the office of the Union Railway Minister, railways have earned profit. He said despite an increase in the diesel price, train fairs were not hiked. No new taxes have been implemented. Mr Yadav has also assured about the second track betwen Viramgam-Rajkot and its provision would take place in the next budget.

Earlier, the Railway Minister arrived here along with his wife Rabdi Devi, his daughters --Anusha and Laxmi -- and son Tejpratap in a special train. Mr Yadav visited the Lord Dwarkadhish Temple and performed Puja. Mr Yadav also visited famous Nageshwar temple near here.

Later in the evening, he left for Somnath in a special train where he would inaugurate the new railway station tomorrow morning.
