New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Haryana Roadways today bagged the prestigious Transport Minister's Trophy and cash award of Rs three lakh for the Lowest Accident Record in Mofussil services operations for the years 2005-06 and 2006-07.
The award distribution ceremony took place during the 53rd Annual conference of the State Road Transport Undertakings. The trophy and cash award was by presented by Union Secretary, Surface Transport, Brahm Dutt to Haryana State Transport Controller, Saroj Siwatch, on behalf of the Haryana Roadways.
The Haryana Roadways has been taking strict road safety measures for the last many years and the rate of accidents involving the Haryana Roadways buses was gradually brought down from 0.21 per one lakh km in 1994-95 to 0.08 in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
The number of people killed or injured have also declined considerably, which has enabled the Haryana Roadways to win this prestigious award.
