Puducherry, Oct 15 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration will soon constitute a 'Co-ordination Committee' to look into the feasibility of bringing the Co-operative Sugar Mill at Lingareddiyppalayam back on the 'profit track.' Co-operation Minister M Kandasamy, who inspected the mill, along with Legislator Arul Murugan, Lok Sabha member M Ramadass and District Collector Thevaneethi Das, told newspersons here today that at present, the mill was running in a loss of Rs 56 crore.
Joint efforts by mill workers, cane growers and the government would alone help the revival of the mill, he said.
Presently, Rs 1,130 per tonne was given for the sugarcane, the payment of which was pending because of financial crisis.
To enable the agriculturists to know the mill's state of affair, the profit and loss account would be displayed on a notice board.
A decision on provision of the pending amount and bonus to the farmers would be taken after a discussion with the Chief Minister after October 20, he added.
