Farmers pay exhorbitant price for fertilizer
Patna, Oct 15 (UNI) Farmers are purchasing fertilizers at an exhorbitant price in Bihar even after several steps were initiated by the state government to prevent blackmarketing of it.
Bihar Agriculture Minister Nagmani was flooded with the complaints of blackmarketing of fertilizers and all of his directives to stop it had so far proved to be futile.
A farmer, Amar Singh, who hails from Gaya district said that the farmers were paying Rs 480 to Rs 490 for every bag of PPL fertilizer which costs Rs 327.34. Instead of taking any action on the complaints made by the farmers they were unnecessarily being harassed, said Mr Singh.
A report from Samastipur said the DPA fertilizer was being sold at about Rs 700 which was much higher than the actual cost.
Meanwhile, Mr Nagmani stated that the government was committed to checking blackmarketing of fertilizers. He also informed that the government had launched several "ambitious" steps to bring rainbow revolution in the field of agriculture and to improve the financial condition of the farmers.
For this, latest technologies of farming were being introduced in the state, he said.
