DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi resigns on SL Tamils issue

Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Rajya Sabha member and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's poetess daughter Ms Kanimozhi put in her resignation papers on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

Taking the lead among all Tamil Nadu MPs, Ms Kanimozhi gave her resignation letter to party President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, highly places sources said here today.

Ms Kanimozhi's offer to step down follows yesterday's resolution in the all-party meeting that if the Centre failed to stop the genocide against Tamils in Sri Lanka, all the MPs from Tamil Nadu would resign.

Mr Karunanidhi clarified that yesterday's resolution applied to Rajya Sabha members also.
