Varsity to strengthen cultural activities
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 14 (UNI) The Bharathidasan University here is planning to offer ample opportunities for students to exhibit their artistic talents by strengthening the activities of its School of Performing Arts, Vice-Chancellor M Ponnavaikko said.
Winding up the university's annual cultural event BARD-FEST 2008, here on Sunday, he said artistes of dying art forms such as 'Mayilattam', 'Kuyilattam,' and 'Therukoothu' would be invited to the university as resource persons to train students. Troupes would be formed for various art forms.
The university would extend its achievements made on the research front to cultural activities as well, he said, announcing the next edition of the annual cultural festival would be held in the proposed huge air-conditioned auditorium with a capacity to accommodate 2,000 persons.
