TN Govt to improve standards in education: Minister
Karur, Oct 14 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government would improve standards of education and infrastructure facilities in schools, according to State Local Administration and Rural Development Minister M K Stalin.
After declaring open a new school-building worth Rs 1.20 crore here last night, he said it was the DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who carved out separate departments for School and Higher Education, moving from the past single department that looked after the education portfolio as a whole.
Mr Stalin said realisation had dawned on the authorities concerned that the education standard needs an improvement and focus should be on school education. A separate department for school education was formed after realising the exigency of the situation, he added.

The Adventure Charitable Trust, funded by a Japan-based Adventure International Group, helped in raising the building for the benefit of 840-odd girl students enrolled in the school, he added.
Later, Mr Stalin inspected the progress of work under the renovation of 'Irattai Vaikkal Scheme,' construction of an Abattoir near Balambalpuram on the Vangal Road and construction of the modern gasifier crematorium to be operated by the Karur Municipality.
