Chandigarh, Oct 14 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways Narain Bhai Rathwa would flag-off a new Superfast day train tomorrow connecting Gurdaspur in Punjab to Delhi on October 15.
Dr Ashwani Kumar, Union Minister of State for Industry, who hails from Gurdaspur would also be present on the occasion.
A unique feature of the train is that it will link three principal towns of Gurdaspur district namely, Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot to, Delhi, a press release said here today.
Considering the importance of Pathankot as the gateway to north Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, this facility will fulfill an essential requirement of speedy economic development of Gurdaspur, it said.
This will also serve the cause of promoting business and tourism in the area apart from facilitating affordable and efficient passenger transport.
This will also facilitate goods and business traffic and help in the revival of the economy of the district, which has in the past suffered miserably on account of poor connectivity and terrorism.
