Dubai, Oct 14 (UNI) The Sri Lankan team has been penalised for maintaining a slow over-rate during the final of the Twenty20 International tournament in Toronto against Pakistan.
Match Referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after the Lankans were found to be two overs short of the allotted time.
According to International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, skipper Mahela Jayawardena has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee while his team mates have each received 10 per cent fines.
Sri Lanka won the quadrangular event which also featured the West Indies and hosts Canada, after beating Pakistan by five wickets in the final.
