Jammu, Oct 14 (UNI) An Army jawan and a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit was killed in an encounter near village Sangjot in Gursai area and security forces busted a hideout and recovered a huge cache in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today.
''Based on a tip off, a joint operation was launched by the police and the troops of 38 Rashtriya Rifles(RR) at village Sangjot,'' sources told UNI and added that the militants opened fire upon the troops which triggered into gun battle.
Let militant identified as Uzafa Shah was killed in the encounter while an Army jawan, Sujiet Singh Babu of 38 RR also laid down his life.
''One AK 47 rifle and two AK magazines were recovered from the slain militant,'' sources added.
Meanwhile, security forces smashed militants hideout in Dassa Sumber area and recovered one .303 rifle with one magazine, one wireless set, two grenades and 33 AK rounds.
In another incident, police and troops of 59 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) recovered some arms and ammunition during a joint search operation launched at angrolla top near Sonabag in tehsil Mahore of Reasi district late last night.
''A search operation was launched on specific information in association 59 RR. The militants identified as Manzoor Ahmed code Aubair and his two associates fired upon the troop, which was retaliated,'' sources added.
The militants managed to escape during encounter taking an advantage of dense forest.
Security forces however, recovered two AK magazines, 60 AK rounds, one radio set (i.Com) , one grenade (destroyed ) one binocular , one mobile set with sim card , one tv folding , two blankets and three shawls from the site of the encounter.
Moreover, two ieds, two remotes, one AK 47 magazine (damaged) and one walkie talkie were also recovered from another hideout in Tanta Khnoo area of teshil Gandoh.
