Delhi-registration car intercepted on President's route
Pune, Oct 14 (UNI) A day after President Pratibha Devisingh Patil concluded her four-day visit to the historical city of Pune, some alarming disclosures of possible attempts of security breach have come to light.
Police today said close on the heels of the e-mail threat to the President received by the state police, they had intercepted a Delhi registration car, displaying ''fake national emblem'' when it was moving along the route Ms Patil was to take on saturday.
The car was intercepted near the Pune University when the President was returning back to Raj Bhawan.
The two suspects, including a woman in the vehicle, however, managed to flee from the spot while their silver colour swift Maruti car has been seized by police.
The city police crime branch have started detailed investigation after intense search for the duo could only lead to some ''sketchy'' information about them.
''We have already started investigation in the case and have been looking for the duo, but at the moment we cannot say whether it was an attempt to breach the President's security,'' Joint police commissioner Rajendra Sonawane told UNI here this evening. Sonawane said, ''The intercepted car had nothing in it except the fake emblem. The police seized the car 45 minutes before the President's convoy was to pass through that route for Raj Bhawan''.
