New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) Cadila Healthcare Ltd, the flagship firm of the Zydus Group, today said the it has received the World Health Organisation (WHO) accreditation (prequalification) for rabies vaccine.
''WHO has approved Lyssavac N - the Purified Duck Embroyo Rabies Vaccine (PDEV) manufactured by the company, for purchase by various United Nation Agencies,'' it said in a statement.
With this, the Ahmedabad-based company has becomes the first Indian pharma company and the second pharma company in the world, to receive the WHO accreditation (prequalification) for rabies vaccine.
The Purified Duck Embryo Rabies Vaccine is a very well tolerated vaccine with the best sero conversion for protection against rabies.
The vaccine is currently exported to countries in South East Asia and Africa.
Rabies is a viral disease which often gets transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal.
