Bopanna moves to second round at Tashkent Challenger

Tashkent, Oct 14 (UNI) India's Rohan Bopanna kept up his splendid run to enter the second round of the 1,25,000 dollar Tashkent Challenger here today.

In the first round match Bopanna had to go through a tough first set tussle to register a 7-6(8-6), 6-4 win over Ilia Marchenko of Ukraine in a 1 hour 55 min battle.

In the second round Bopanna will now take on top seeded Lu Yen-Hsun of Chinese Taipei who easily put out former World number 1 junior player Kristian Pless of Denmark 6-3, 6-4.

Other Asian players, sixth seeded Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan, unseeded Yuri Schukin of Kazakhstan, and Danai Udamchhoke of Thailand, also moved into the last 16 stage.
