Akshaya Homes launches smart homes at Rs 4.5 cr apiece

Chennai, Oct 14 (UNI) Chennai-based Akshaya Homes, a leading residential and commercial realty developer, today launched "Smart Homes", claimed to be the first such product in Tamil Nadu, offering a totally different living experience.

The first such project, "Aikya," would come up at the upmarket Gandhingar Area in the city.

Each block would comprise four apartments, each having an area of over 3,050 sq feet with Duplex-style living spaces.

The project would be completed in 2009. Each apartment would cost about Rs 4.5 crore, one of the costliest in the city.

Apart from innovatively designed structure coupled with modern amenities, the proejct would have state-of-the-art technological amenities for making them "intelligent homes." "Each flat will have home automation that alone will cost about Rs 30 to 35 lakh. Akiya will provide access to the world in the most convenient way, leisure at home with remote access to appliances and secured services," Akshaya Homes Managing Director Chitty Babu told reporters here today.

"There will be a home server box that makes the home digital smart with wi-fi connectivity, digital answering macines, smart card-based access to home, main gate security and visitor tracking system, stand -alone video surveillance and visitors log when the home is locked.

"If this concept proves succesful, then it will be replicated in other cities in Tamil Nadu and in Tier-II and Tier-III Cities, focussing on IT companies," he added.
