6 wounded in bomb explosion in UP city
Kanpur, Oct 14 (UNI) At least six people were grievously wounded after a bomb exploded in Bajaria area of the city this evening.
Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal has, however, denied that it is a terrorist strike.
The ADG confirmed that five people received injuries in the incident. Mr Brijlal said the countrymade bomb was planted on a rented bicycle, which was abandoned at Purani Sharab Gaddi locality since morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harey Ram Sharma said six people received pallet injuries in the explosion. The bomb was planted at the bicycle that was parked in front of a grocery shop in the locality.
The window panes of the nearby buildings also broke in the incident, he informed.
The SSP has, however, appealed the people to be calm and maintain peace.
Senior police and administrative officials, including Union Minister of state for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal, who resides in the city have reached the spot.
The wounded have been admitted to hospital.
