10,000 people embrace Buddhism in Karnataka
Gulbarga, Oct 14 (UNI) More than 10,000 people today embraced Buddhism at a congregation held to mark the 52nd Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar converting to Buddhism.
International Buddhism Youth Organisation President Bhante Bodhi Dhamma solemenised the ceremony by making them to take pledge that they would pursue the five main principles of the Buddhism.
Addressing the congregation, Bhante Bodhi said that Buddhism preaches non-violence, peace and equality.
Earlier the Buddhists took out a massive procession to the venue.
During October 2006, more than 30,000 people had embraced Buddhism here.
