Panipat, Oct 13 (UNI) Former union minister of state for home I D Swami today strongly denied that discontentment was brewing in the party rank and file over the Bharatiya Janata Party-Indian National Lok Dal alliance.
Addressing a press meet here, the senior BJP leader stressed that the workers of both the parties were in an upbeat mood and had assured their leaders that they would work jointly for the success of the NDA, leaving aside any personal discontent.
Conceding that initially some factins in BJP had reservations about the alliance, he said, ''however, after considering all pros and cons, all were satisfied.'' The alliance with the (INDL) in Haryana was a strategic step taken by the BJP leadership to strengthen the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), he said, adding that it was mutual and aimed at consolidating the political standing of INDL in the state and and the NDA at the Centre.
Mr Swami said though the BJP and INLD leadership had announced the tie-up yesterday, the parties were yet to decide on the issue of seats-sharing for the parliamentary as well as the assembly elections.
Expressing confidence that the alliance would help the NDA form the next government at the Centre, Mr Swami said both the parties were in high spirits to uproot the Congress in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
The INLD had extended support to the BJP-led NDA government in 1998 but had withdrawn from the alliance in 2004.
