Siliguri, Oct 13 (UNI) West Bengal's Home Secretary Asoke Mohan Chakraborty will hold a high level administrative meeting later today to asses Darjeeling's situation following Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's fresh "fatwa" on transporters and state and central government offices.

The GJM in a new diktat asked all central and state government offices to change their sign board outside the office and write their department and "Government of Gorkhaland" instead of West Bengal or India.

GJM's president Bimal Gurung in a public meeting at Chowk Bazar last week pronounced this decree and said the order must be implemented by October 17.

He also stepped up implementation of writing GL (Gorkha Land) on car and warned that any vehicle, registered with Darjeeling district, that did not comply with the order will be barred from entering into the hills.

Tourist cars from Siliguri and Dooars have stopped going uphills for past few days after half a dozen drivers were bashed up for not conforming with the GJM's order.

Many driver associations were contemplating to move jointly and stop playing to Darjeeling if situation did not improve immediately.

The State Home Secretary in the high level meeting with Divisional Commissioner, Jalpaiguri, D L Meena, district magistrate Surendra Kumar Gupta, IG K L Tamta and district SP Rahul Srivastav will take stock of the sitaution and expected to come out with some solution for the government departments.
