TN Dist takes up sanitation programme
Pudukkottai (Tamil Nadu), Oct 13: The Pudukkottai District Administration has fixed target of constructing 31,772 toilets under the subsidy-based 'Total Rural Sanitation Programme'during the current financial year, according to District Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar.
In a press release here today, she said the decision was taken at the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting held here on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister of State for Forests and environment S Regupathy.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary was sanctioned a subsidy of Rs 2,200.A total of 1,860 toilets had been constructed so far.
She said under the Indira Awas Yojana scheme, the work on the construction of 1,897 new houses, costing Rs 55,000 each, had been taken up in parts of the district.
