Rain curtails proceedings on opening day of SZ U-22 tourney

Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) Rain played spoilsport as only 25.2 overs of play was possible on the opening day of the four-day South Zone under-22 cricket tournament for the P Ramachandra Rao Trophy here today.

Invited to bat first after play began at 1500 hrs, Karnataka reached 71 for one at close.

After the early loss of opener K B Pawan (one) in the third over, Dhanajaya Murari (30 batting) and Ganesh Satish (30 batting) added 61 for the unfinished second wicket in 22 oers, before bad light stopped play at 1700 hrs.

Medium Pacer Saurav Bandekar of Goa claimed the lone wicket.

Brief scores: Karnataka 71 for one n 25.2 overs (Dhananjaya Murari 30 batting, Ganesh Satish 30 batting) vs Goa.
