Kandhamal rape accused sent to Coimbatore central jail
Coimbatore, Oct 13 (UNI) The three culprits accused of raping a nun in Kandhamal district in Orissa, who were arrested at Kizhakkangeri in Palakkad district in Kerala by a special team of Orissa state police, were lodged in Coimbatore Central prison today.
Police said the accused Mithu Patnaik (25), Saroj Kade (42) and Munna Katai (22), were arrested two days ago with the help of local police in Palakkad. They were brought to the Peelamedu Airport here amid tight security this morning from Kerala.
The police were shocked to know that they have to get special permission with higher airport authorities to travel with the accused, along with weapons, by flight.
After discussions with the local airport authorities, police housed the three accused in the central prison here, police added.
