George Michael axed from Brit Awards 2009?
Washington, Oct 13 : George Michael has reportedly been axed from next year's Brit Awards following his recent drug scandal.
The singer was allegedly nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the prestigious U.K. ceremony.
However, Brit Award bosses are rumoured to be looking for another nominee, after Michael was arrested by police in the Hampstead Heath area of north London in September (08).
He was found to be in possession of class A and class C drugs - cocaine and marijuana - and was released with a caution.
"George was frontrunner to get the lifetime achievement award. But Brits bosses felt it would be better not to be associated with him for the time being since the Brits is a shop window for our music," Contactmusic quoted a source, as telling News of the World.
