Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here will be witnessing some international action after a gap of 13 years hosting the third South Asian Federation (SAF) junior- Under 20 and the first SAF Youth meet-Under 18, athletic championships here on Novembar 7 and 8.
Announcing this at a press conference here President of the host Tamil Nadu Athletic Association W I Davaram said bout 300 athletes from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India will by vying for honours.
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh would be fielding the largest contingents, he pointed out.
The meet, which would be the first major international engagement here after the South Asian Federation meet in 1995, is being organised under the auspices of Athletic Federation of India (AFI), Mr Davaram added.
Six athletes from Tamil Nadu who are presently representing India in athletics in the multi-discipline Commonwealth Youth championships in Pune, G Gayathri(Triple Jump), L Surya (1500 m), Hemashree(100 m hurdles), Nickil Chittarasu (High Jump), A Rosito Sax and B Azarudh (Long Jump).
