Raipur, Oct 13 (UNI) As Chhattisgarh races towards year-end assembly polls, government departments' achievements will not be showcased at Rajyotsav programmes to be organised here coinciding with the eighth anniversary of the state's formation through Madhya Pradesh's bifurcation on November 1, 2000, a government spokesman said today.
Such programmes will not be organised at all in the districts.
The decision was taken a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary (CS) P Joy Ommen yesterday. In view of the Model Code of Conduct, the Rajyotsav would be restricted to a trade fair and cultural programmes. The inauguration would be done by Governor E S L Narasimhan -- not by any political leader -- who would also declare the Rajyotsav closed.
A sub-committee was formed under the chairmanship of Additional CS S Minj for the state-level seven-day main programme from November 1 at the Government Science College ground as was the case earlier.
The Rajyotsav, which has been an annual event since Chhattisgarh's formation, witnessed showcasing of future schemes.
