Lucknow, Oct 13(UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today urged the Centre, Election Commission(EC) and even the judiciary to make an effort to put a spanner on political parties trying to create communal disturbances for vote bank politics.

The Chief Minister also asked the Centre to clarify its stand on the demand of impartial probe into the Batala House encounter in New Delhi last month.

Addressing a national Muslim conference here, Ms Mayawati said the incidents of communal violence in Orissa, Karnataka and others places had shaken the confidence of the minorities.

''Institutions like the EC, judiciary and the Centre should take appropriate action, to prevent use of communal violence by any political party to further its political prospect'', she said.

The CM said she had sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on October 10 demanding action against the culprits of the Orissa and Karnataka incidents to remove suspicions from the minds of the Muslims on the Batala House encounter.

Claiming that BSP was the only party concerned about the uplift of the Muslims and that the other parties were using them as vote bank politics, Ms Mayawati strongly criticised the parties blaming the Muslims for the terrorist attacks.

Holding the Congress fully responsible for the rise of terrorism in the country, she said lack of security at the international borders was the main reason for the terrorism in the country.

''Only a handful of people were involved in terrorism but the entire Muslim community is being blamed which is unfortunate'', she said.

Asking the Centre to strengthen the intelligence network to eradicate terrorism from the country, the UP Chief Minister said the Centre should also coordinate with the state governments to get enough information on terrorists.

''I have given strict direction to police not to harrass innocents in the name of terrorism or go for a fake encounter'', she asserted.

Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party (SP), Ms Mayawati said a senior SP leader demanded a judicial probe into the Batala house encounter only after the civil nuclear deal was signed.

''There was a 'deal' behind the nuclear deal by the SP just to confuse the muslims'', he claimed.
