Jaulan, Oct 13: At least 28 people were injured in clashes between police and farmers when the latter resorted to violence over denial of fertilizers to them.
According to official sources, scores of farmers reached the chemical and fertiliser corporation on Sunday, Oct 12 to get fertilizers . However, the sales officer closed the godown shutter after entertaining the demands of a few farmers.
The farmers also showed their 'kisan book' to the officer and demanded their entitlement, but the officer refused saying stock was over.
Later, when the farmers learnt that there were 460 bags of fertilizers in the godown they created furore and resorted to stone-pelting.
Police reached the spot and resorted to lathicharge , besides firing few shots in the air to disperse them.
Al least 25 farmers and three policemen sustained serious injuries in the incident.
A case has been registered against the sales officer.
