Two killed, 12 injured in Chiru's Praja Ankita Yatra

Srikakulam, Oct 12: Two people were killed and 12 others injured in two separate stampede incidents in this district late on Saturday, Oct 11 night. The incident occurred when they were attending the ongoing road show meeting organised by the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) of actor-turned politician Chiranjeevi.

District Police Superintendent Ch Srikanth said the condition of one of the injured people was critical. He said the victims were identifed as Md Shaik Madina (28), who was seriously injured in a road-show meeting at Arasavalli, and V Simhachalam (37), who was injured in a road-show meeting at Somepeta. The party had launched the road-show meeting 'Praja Ankita Yatra' at Arasavilli, where the famous Sun Temple is located, a couple of days ago.

The 'Yatra' would cover north coastal districts in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. The party announced Rs one lakh each as compensation to the family of the victims.
