Two held for cricket betting in Vijayawada
Vijayawada, Oct 12: The Anti-Goonda Squad (AGS) of the city police on Saturday, Oct 11 arrested two persons on the charges of resorting to cricket betting on mobile phones over the result of the first India-Australia test match being played in Bangalore.
Police said on a tip-off, the police team raided a house at Moghalrajapuram, near Nammichettu centre here. The arrested were U Lakshimipathi Raju and Srinivasa Rao.
A colour television set, eight mobile phones and Rs 40,530 in cash were also seized from their possession.
Based on the information secured from the accused mobile phones, the AGS team also identified a list of 25 people, who were involved in the betting.
