Trains delayed due to signal complaint in Tiruchirapalli
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 12: Almost all the incoming and outgoing trains of Tiruchirapalli junction suffered a huge delay following a signal failure at Pullambadi railway station near here early on Sunday, Oct 12.
Southern Railway sources told the sources that the signal failure was noticed at 0301 hrs and it was set right around 0508 hrs. Due to this, the trains were detained in various places and some of the trains were asked to adopt caution driving.
The delayed trains were the Chennai-Madurai Pandiyan Super Fast Express (both directions), Mangalore-Chennai Express (both directions), Tirunelveli-Chennai Nellai Express (both directions), Chengottah-Chennai Pothigai Express (both directions), Kanyakumari-Chennai Express (both directions), Nizamuddin-Madurai Express (both directions).
The drivers of the most of these delayed trains also complained that they noticed heavy jerk on the tracks in many places between Tiruchirapalli and Pullambadi.
A special team of track maintaining unit thoroughly checked the entire stretch and certified the track. This was also another reason for the delay, the sources added.
