Stuti of Assam crowned Miss North-East
Shillong, Oct 12 (UNI) Stuti Choudhury of Assam was crowned as Miss North-East 2008 at a glittering pageantry here late last night.
The Assamese beauty was also adjudged as 'Miss Catwalk' and 'Miss Spontaneity'.
Stuti wore the tiara at the keenly contested pageant, leaving behind a bevy of other contestants who took part in the event from all the seven northeastern states.
Stuti, with the title, also won a cash award of Rs 50,000 and other exotic gifts.
Linthoi Devi from Manipur was adjudged the first runner up and won a cash award of Rs 30,000 with other gifts. Coming a close third was Layla Iarisa Kharkongor, bagging Rs 20,000 and other gifts.
In the question round, Stuti said she believed in ''peaceful dialogue'' to stop terrorism in the country.
'' This is the biggest problem that India and especially the northeast is facing,'' she said.
When asked what she would do to eradicate crime against women, the damsel said women should start an NGO to stop crime against themselves.
The event was organised by Fashion Society, Shillong, celebrating its silver jubilee year.
