Police officers son remanded in custody in diamonds loot case
Jalandhar, Oct 12 (UNI) The son of a senior Punjab Police officer and his gunman who were arrested in Rs 1.75 crore diamond robbery were today remanded to police custodyb till October 15.
The police had yesterday arrested Mohit Sharma, son of state Vigilnace Bureau SSP, Shiv Kumar Sharma and his gunman from Ludhiana. They were both produced before the duty magistrate at Phillaur today and remanded to police custody.
The duo alongwith four others had waylaid a diamond merchant of Mumbai, Bhavesh Shah near Bakkarpur village on NH-I when he was proceeding to Amritsar on a taxi, hired at Ludhiana on Friday. The diamond merchant had sold some of his diamonds at Ludhiana, where Mohit Sharma runs a jewellery shop and was to sell the remaining at Amritsar.
Four others wanted in the highway loot were still at large.
One of them is the taxi driver.
