By Staff

Jamshedpur, Oct 12 (UNI) The Indian women's team comprising V Pranitha, Rimil Biruly and Belsary Nazari has clinched the silver medal in the Junior and Cadet World Archery Championship at Turkey.

V Pranitha, a Tata Archery Academy cadet won the silver medal in the Junior Individual Championship.

In the finals of the Youth Archery World Championships, China stayed solid and reached their usual score 208-190 to clinch the gold medal. It may have been a bit too much for the young Indian team who could not deliver the performances they had done in the previous rounds.

In another match, the Indian Cadet Compound team-comprised of Asrita Kerketta and Harsha Bhardwaj (Jharkhand) and Luxmi Sarikonda (Maharashtra) stood 4th loosing out to Australia 220-210 points in the Bronze medal match.

Indian team has lost time their first end by not getting to the line in time. As a result, the last shooter of the first end had little time to shoot. But, Harsha Bhardwaj shot a decent 8 considering the circumstances.

The score was tied at 55-55 and stayed close after twelve arrows, 107-109. After that, the Australians turned up the heat and scored 9-10-10 which gave them a lead 138-131.

They did not let up the rest of the match and won 220-210.

In the Recurve Cadet Women section V Pranitha won the silver medal when she lost out to Japan.
